Internet Health Channel Signs University Hospital Expertise
realhealth.TV, an Internet TV channel dedicated to consumer health education, is signing up university hospitals as sources of health care expertise.
The network announced last week that doctors at the University of Colorado Hospital would join teams from Duke University Medical Center, Vanderbilt Medical Center, UCLA Healthcare, Johns Hopkins Medicine and University of Chicago Medical Center, to offer commentary on health topics for the channel.
James Madara, chief executive officer for the University of Chicago Medical Center, said the deal enhanced its ability to keep its patients informed about their health. realthealth,TV provides "a whole new avenue for our physicians to help people, especially newly diagnosed patients, understand the course and treatment of specific diseases," he said.
realhealth.TV said it will showcase "real people sharing their health stories," including "short, high-quality videos, both professionally produced and user submitted, that explore the diversity of stories that fall under 'health.'"
