D2L Launches Mobile Learning Environment
- Desire2Learn this week announced a new mobile application of its Desire2Learn Learning Environment. Called Desire2Learn 2GO, the application ties in with Learning Environment 8.3 to provide access via Blackberry. The company also announced that it's streamlining integration Respondus 3.5, a quiz- and test-building application.

VMware To Give Away Hypervisor
- VMware has launched its first counter-attack to Microsoft's pricing structure for its virtualization products, announcing that ESXi, its lightweight hypervisor, is going to be given away for free.

Mercyhurst College To Reach Out with CRM
- Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA will be implementing customer relationship management (CRM) and digital recruiting tools from Azorus. Mercyhurst, with about 3,000 students, is the first institution to use the Digital Recruit solution in the United States. The service optimizes recruiting efforts by delivering personalized communications to students interested in attending the college.

Researchers at U Washington and UCSD Test New, Free Laptop Tracking System
- A new and free open source system from researchers at the University of Washington and the University of California, San Diego promises to track down the location of a lost or stolen laptop without requiring the use of a proprietary or central service.
