Earlier we reported that Indiana University has partnered with Internet search service ChaCha, also based in Indiana, to create an alliance for developing research tools and services via the Web. The University of Wisconsin-Madison picked an insider as its next chief information officer after narrowing the field to three candidates. Ed tech provider DigiLore has launched a new grant program for both K-12 and higher ed institutions. The grant, according to the company, is designed to support United States Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings's call for "a more accountable higher education system that includes a stronger accreditation process with more information about the quality of colleges and universities."

Bruce Bible, Ohio University's recently appointed chief information officer, has completed an initial 75-day review of OU's information technology needs. The University of the West in Rosemead, CA is upgrading its administrative systems in order to grow enrollment and and fulfill new accreditation requirements. The upgrades include CampusVue Collegiate and CampusNet, two enterprise solutions from Campus Management in Boca Raton, FL.

The Texas Tech University System (TTUS) is in the middle of a four-year implementation of a project called ConnecTech, which is designed to integrate information systems within the TTUS enterprise. As part of the program, the university system has adopted various technologies from SunGard Higher Education, a provider of enterprise solutions for higher education.
