IBM this month will release two new software updates focused on collaboration--Lotus Quickr 8.1 and Workplace Collaborative Learning 2.7. The company has also expanded its Information Server software platform with the introduction of IBM Information Server FastTrack, a new module for information integration projects.

SAS Opens Up SAS OnDemand for Academics

Marine Research School Implements Virtual Storage Solution

The Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami said it has implemented an ONStor network attached storage (NAS) solution in its two data centers. The school, comprising 100 faculty members, 190 graduate students, and 250 research support staff, is using the ONStor Bobcat NAS gateway to gain a single view into storage resources.

First Look: PostgreSQL 8.3

U Pittsburgh Automates IT Support

The University of Pittsburgh has signed on with Alloy Software to automate technical support across multiple departments. The deal equips the university's Financial Information Systems (FIS) department with Alloy Navigator, which provides a centralized platform for IT service management.
